Creative
Lagos, Nigeria
Full-time
Anybody can fill the space. We need a Senior Copywriter who writes the line people repeat back three weeks later.
What you'd be doing
Writing the line everybody repeats. You'd own copy across campaigns, brand platforms, scripts, social and pitch work, and you'd be the one who decides whether an idea is actually saying something or just sounding like it is. You'd work straight off a client brief, usually with a strategist and an art director beside you, and you'd be in the room when the work is sold. You'd also set the bar for the writers under you, which means editing other people's copy without flattening their voice.
Lead copy on two to four accounts at a time.
Write campaign platforms, taglines, scripts for film, radio and social, long-form brand copy and tone of voice guidelines.
Write for Nigerian audiences first. Land it in Lagos before you worry about whether it travels.
Present your own work to clients and defend it with a reason, not a mood.
Review and raise the mid-level writers' output.
What we're looking for
Five years or more writing in an agency, a brand team or a newsroom, at least two of them on campaign work.
A portfolio where we can see the thinking, not just the finished asset.
You can write in registers that aren't your own. A bank and a beauty brand shouldn't sound the same in your hands.
Fluent in Nigerian internet culture without straining for it.
You take an edit well and give one better.
Bonus if you've scripted podcast ads or branded audio. We make a lot of it.
How we'll assess you
There's a practical test for this role. We'll tell you what it involves when we invite you to it, and you'll get 72 hours so you can fit it around your job. It's built to look like the work, and we never set a test that doubles as free client work.
A 20 minute intro call.
A take-home exercise, under two hours.
An interview built around what you submitted.
A final conversation with the team.
